Free weights or Machines.

Is it better to use free weights or machines? This is a common question for
most beginners to ask. The answer is free weights, the reason being that free
weights offer you the least control and therefore require more muscle usage to
control the weight (usage of stabilizer muscles). Machines, on the other hand,
do most of the controlling for you so you are only required to move the weight
from point A to point B, utilizing a smaller number of muscles. This is not to
say that machines are useless, because they are not, it is just that free weights
are more desirable if gaining weight is your aim. So don’t be intimidated by
the free weight room (as many beginners are). After your first few times in there you’ll start to feel at home.
Most females think that free weights room is not for them that is why we see them using the machine all the time.Free weights will get you more results quickly than machines so if you are a female reading this,the next time you go to gym ,go hit the free weights room if you don't know how it works I am sure someone there would be glad to help you.

  1. Do you recommend a free weight squat to someone who just start lifting?

  2. Why not;if the person will be doing free weights why not start him or her with free weights squat;but he or she needs to learn the proper form before loading the bar with some weights.
    First start learning the proper form without the barbell bar and when he or she makes a little progress ,use the barbell bar to squat and when he or she feels comfortable with the form and the bar on the neck ,the weights could be applied.Always Start with light weight and add weights as he or she is getting stronger.
    Machines are good but I would never recommend a Smith machine for squat.The machine limits your movements so you would lose your form and the squat would be awkward.
